The Lake Mahopac Park District Advisory Board is a group of individuals, appointed by the Carmel Town Board, to advise the board on issues that pertain to the health and safety of the lake. The Advisory Board's activities include the monitoring of the lake level and water quality, liaison with the Carmel Police and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In addition, the board coordinates with surrounding Lakes associations, the NY Federation of Lake Associations (NYFOLA), the NY Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the Putnam Department of Health and the NY Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
